GameSalad Inc., which enables game developers to quickly create and publish sophisticated iOS, Android and HTML5 games, is now supporting  Windows 8. GameSalad, with more than 400,000 developers, streamlines the process for bringing mobile, web and PC games to market by eliminating the need to code and allowing developers to publish to multiple platforms with the click of a button.

GameSalad’s flagship product, GameSalad Creator, has been optimized to take advantage of the new Windows 8 operating system and enables developers on both PCs and Macs to easily publish games to the Windows Store.   GameSalad developers will have the opportunity to make their games available in the Windows Store before Windows 8 general availability.

“By supporting Windows 8, GameSalad developers now have the opportunity to reach all new Windows 8 users, regardless of form factor,” said Steve Felter, GameSalad CEO.  “We are excited to help our developer community take full advantage of the tremendous opportunities the Windows 8 ecosystem presents.”

“Microsoft is thrilled GameSalad will be bringing its popular GameSalad Creator product to Windows 8 and welcomes its passionate community of more than 400,000 developers,” said John Richards, senior director, Windows Apps Marketing at Microsoft Corp.  “By making it easy to create and publish games to the Windows Store, GameSalad developers now have access to a powerful distribution channel with unprecedented global reach across more than 200 markets.”

Since its debut in 2009, GameSalad has quickly grown to become a leading game development platform. To date, GameSalad Creator has powered more than 100,000 original titles across mobile and web platforms, including a #1 iOS game and more than 65 Top 100 Games in Apple’s U.S. App Store.  In 2011, more than 15% of all new iOS games were built with GameSalad.

The Windows 8 version of GameSalad Creator is now available for download at www.gamesalad.com and supports publishing to the Windows Store.
