As rumored release dates fly by and leaks continue to spring, official information on Android KitKat is still hard to come by. But there is one stream of continually updating KitKat content, and it’s coming from the KitKat Google+ page.

Starting this past Monday, every morning has brought a new cryptic KitKat photo, toting a vague tagline and a new formation of chocolate-covered wafers. We could be wrong, but it seems like a subtle countdown to… something.
On Monday it started with a James Bond homage in honor of Roger Moore’s 86th birthday, and the following photo with a distinct number 7.
On Tuesday, Kit Kat posted this simple photo of a KitKat alien with six distinct chocolate fingers and the text “Everybody dance now!” Also, notice the magnifying glass symbol on the bottom left, implying readers to “search.” This may sound a little farfetched, but keep reading.
Wednesday, we got this post: “Sometimes you have to look for the signs…” and the accompanying picture twice uses a letter “S” that looks much more like a 5.
This morning we got this sleek advertisement touting KitKat’s joking tagline, “The future of confectionery has arrived…” Yet it’s the first time these photos have included the version number 4.4. Not to mention the Kit Kat in the photo has four chocolate fingers.
7, 6, 5, 4, 3… if the countdown keeps this pace over the weekend, then on Monday it’ll hit zero. (If it skips the weekend, we’re looking at Wednesday.) Will Monday bring the mythical release of Android KitKat 4.4? Maybe. Might this be an elaborate ruse counting down to nothing? Possibly.
Either way, we’ll be updating this list as the countdown continues. Google and Nestlé had a ball with cross-promotion and marketing parodies last month when KitKat was announced, so what are the odds they’d tease the release with a sly countdown? We wouldn’t put it past them.
