Dynamsoft has updated the web version of its document scanning software development kit (SDK) to add HTML5 support for IE on Windows and mainstream browsers on Mac platforms. The updated Dynamic Web TWAIN SDK is now version 11.
For Windows, the added HTML5 support is for Internet Explorer (IE) 10 and 11. For Mac, the added HTML5 support is for Safari v7+, Chrome v27+, and Firefox v27+ on Mac OS X 10.6 or later. Essentially, this means developers that use Dynamic Web TWAIN v11 SDK in their document management applications can conveniently enable users to scan documents in these HTML5-based browsers.
“We’re continuing to address the growing need for HTML5 support in all of our relevant imaging SDK solutions,” said Amy Gu, Vice President of Dynamsoft. “With the phase out of the NPAPI plugin in Chrome and other updates among browsers, we are expanding the browser and platform support of our HTML5 TWAIN scanning SDK to facilitate the implementation of web scanning in modern browsers.”
Dynamic Web TWAIN provides programmers with simple built-in interfaces to access local TWAIN devices from web pages. They need only write a handful of lines of JavaScript code to enable cross-browser document scanning and uploading and document processing, like barcode reading in web applications. It saves months of work and related costs and frees teams from having to do TWAIN coding from scratch. With the active development and maintenance of Dynamsoft’s SDK, developers don’t need to worry about browser updates and can instead focus on improving the robustness of their document solutions.
