Coverity, the leader in development testing, and SQS, the world’s leading specialist in software quality, have teamed to launch the industry’s first independent development testing services offering. Globally recognized as the leader in end-to-end software quality services, SQS has augmented its Development Quality practice with a new development testing service based on the Coverity Development Testing Platform. The partnership combines SQS’ expertise in quality process improvement throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) with best of breed technology from Coverity. The combined offering empowers CIOs to lead and drive software quality transformation across the enterprise by expanding traditional software testing upstream into development.

“Aviva is committed to providing a high-quality, seamless customer experience–both for online customers and through our Financial Services Retail partners. High-quality application software is fundamental to this,” said Ben Riches, Director of Shared Development Services and Governance at Aviva. “Development testing allows us to drive quality much faster and more effectively–helping our software development teams to deliver innovative, leading-edge services to our customers. As we continue our development testing rollout across the General Insurance and Life businesses, we are excited to be working with both SQS and Coverity to leverage their industry leadership in delivering development testing services.”

SQS’ new offering helps companies build an efficient software quality testing process and prioritize spending. This enables QA teams to work more efficiently so they can focus more on functional validation and less on finding and fixing defects in code. Coverity’s development testing platform helps development teams quickly and easily identify and fix software defects prior to the deployment of traditional software quality methods and is embedded in the SDLC at over 1,100 Coverity customers. Ultimately, the combined offering helps enterprises reduce application development costs, improve time to market for software-based products and services, and protect their brands against costly and damaging software failures and security breaches.

“We are seeing rapid adoption of development testing due to the business criticality of delivering high-quality, secure software,” said Jennifer Johnson, Vice President of Marketing at Coverity. “Time to market pressure has dramatically increased, and as a result, innovation has outpaced traditional testing methods. It’s time for companies to rethink software testing. We are excited about partnering with a leading global software quality services company such as SQS to help drive further adoption of development testing as part of the software quality transformation currently taking place in the market.”

“By shifting quality left in the software development lifecycle, companies drive quality faster and cheaper and can achieve a far greater return on investment in their software quality management efforts,” said Julian Brook, Associate Director at SQS. “By partnering with Coverity, our development testing service offering means that companies can drive more value from their traditional QA activities, by focusing QA professionals on the validation of business requirements rather than the detection and management of preventable defects. In short, all this helps organizations to get a far greater bang for buck in their software development projects.”
