Push Technology today unveiled the latest version of its enterprise-grade data distribution platform, Diffusion 5.0, to provide the fastest time to market and value to deliver mobile apps. With a new unified API, enhanced performance, high availability and easy integration with enterprise assets, the platform helps organizations get to market faster with high-performance, real-time apps and for these to be deployed across a range of mobile operating systems, networks and clients.
“Customer expectations are soaring as the mobile mind shift accelerates. To meet those expectations, enterprise mobile development teams must be capable of releasing high-quality apps quickly, and quite often, several times a year,” explains Sean Bowen, CEO at Push Technology. “Yet, organizations are still wrestling with three major challenges; what apps to build, how to make them reliable and how to make them perform at scale. Our response in Diffusion 5.0 is to provide a solution that does more so you can be more productive, delivers faster time to value, offers continuous availability and easily integrates with enterprise assets.”
Robin Knipe, Java developer at Racing Post, has trialed Diffusion 5.0. He explains, “We use its real-time data delivery to feed our clients live prices. Building our applications on top of such a stable and feature-rich platform makes development fast and easy. Having had an early look at Diffusion 5.0, I’m really looking forward to taking advantage of the architectural and DevOps benefits that come through the use of the new unified API. As we run multi-server configurations, we’ll also get a lot of benefits from the new enhanced high availability capabilities.”
New features include:
· High Availability features including session replication, topic replication, and failover of active topic sources.
· Control Client enables you to implement your control logic in any of the supported languages and locate it outside of the Diffusion server, supporting cloud-based solutions.
· Unified API will make available the capabilities of standard clients, control clients, and event publishers in one consistent, modular interface.
· Improved Performance serve up to 85 percent more messages per second to 25 percent more clients by using a new queuing mechanism.
· New Authentication Model so you can write and configure both remote and local authentication handlers.
“Push Technology is breaking new ground in terms of moving data at scale, particularly in a mobile world and one evolving to the ‘Internet of Things,’” said Julie Craig, research director, application management, Enterprise Management Associates. “Push Technology’s Diffusion platform has the potential to become part of the fabric supporting the high scale, high speed apps and services of the future.”
The Java-based middleware is able to intelligently understand data to automatically remove out-of-date or redundant data. As a result, customers can efficiently distribute fast changing data to a large number of simultaneously connected users. In a recent performance benchmark test based on a single small six core server (i.e. commodity tin), Diffusion was able to support 87,000 clients at a sustained rate of up to 15 million messages per second in aggregate at very low latency. The message size was 125 bytes.
