ComponentOne a division of GrapeCity, the largest component solution provider in the Microsoft Visual Studio Partner Ecosystem, today announced the expansion of its Spread product line. ComponentOne Spread is a solution that allows developers to create feature-rich user interfaces by embedding the functionality found in Microsoft® Excel® into their .NET applications. Given Spread’s expansion and to better meet overall development needs, ComponentOne has aligned the products to become part of three new suites:  Spread Studio for.NET, Spread for ASP.NET, and Spread for Windows Forms.

“The Spread product family has been the most powerful spreadsheet solution for applications for many years,” said Sean Lawyer, product manager at ComponentOne.  “It now broadens its reach across more platforms than it ever has before, including HTML5, WinRT, WPF, Silverlight, Windows Forms, ASP.NET, and ActiveX. We have created the ultimate collection of controls for cross-platform spreadsheet support,” said Lawyer.

Spread Studio for .NET is the new cross-platform toolkit that includes components for Windows Forms, ASP.NET, WPF, WinRT, and Silverlight all in one package. This new package includes the new release of Spread.NET 7 for Windows Forms (Spread for Windows Forms) and Spread.NET 7 for ASP.NET (Spread for ASP.NET). Together with Spread’s WPF and Silverlight controls, developers may now extend their Spread applications’ reach into the new frontier of Windows platforms, including the Windows 8 Store.

The Spread.NET 7 controls for Windows Forms (Spread for Windows Forms) and for ASP.NET (Spread for ASP.NET), now include enhancements for performance, Chinese localization, new conditional formatting and filtering support, and many other features. Spread.NET 7 controls support Windows 8, Internet Explorer 10, and integrate seamlessly with Visual Studio 2012.

Spread for Windows Forms and Spread for ASP.NET are licensed separately but may be purchased together as part of the new Spread Studio for .NET product.  All components that were part of version 6 of Spread.NET Professional for each respective platform are included in version 7, including the MultiRow control for Windows Forms and the FpChart controls for Windows Forms and ASP.NET.  Customers with an active Spread.NET maintenance subscription will be provided a new key for version 7 as part of their subscription, and special upgrade pricing is available for customers without a subscription using version 6 or earlier versions.

“Spread delivers an integrated charting engine, data visualizations for informative and effective business dashboards, and comprehensive Excel document support for information sharing across the enterprise,” said Lawyer.  In a blog post titled, “Announcing Spread Studio for .NET!” Lawyer provides a more detailed technical perspective on Spread’s expansion.
