“We are thrilled to lead this round of financing,” said Joe Horowitz of Jafco. “Sencha stands out as having a remarkable team, great customer traction, and an amazing ability to create the kind of products that makes me wish I was a mobile app development engineer.” According to Jim Goetz, general partner of Sequoia Capital, “This latest funding enables Sencha to accelerate product development and technology acquisitions, add key talent to its development team, and expand its Silicon Valley office premises.” Sencha raises the Series B round after enjoying extraordinary market momentum since closing its $14 million funding in June of last year. The industry’s most comprehensive line-up of HTML5 development frameworks and tools
Demand for Sencha Web application frameworks and tools is driven by two key trends in both business and consumer markets. Publishers, retailers and developers of consumer-facing apps are turning to the mobile Web and the latest HTML5 technologies as the most flexible and risk-free strategy to reach mobile users on smartphones and tablets. Sencha application development frameworks and creative tools enable companies to create compelling Web experiences across the widest range of devices, and especially for the latest touch-based phones and tablets.

“The last 18 months have seen Sencha grow into the world’s leading provider of HTML5 frameworks and tools that enable the creation of amazing experiences on the mobile Web,” said Michael Mullany, CEO of Sencha. “We have an expansive vision for the future of HTML5 application development that encompasses SDKs, tools and cloud services to give developers fast time to market, flexibility and reach. This financing will enable us to aggressively pursue this vision through further product innovations and acquisitions.”
