Developers looking to improve user experience and .NET development choose Telerik as a one-stop shop for their life-cycle needs. Telerik’s application development, automated testing, agile project management, reporting and content management solutions are available across all major Microsoft platforms. Using its award-winning products, organizations of every size are getting to market faster with products that are delivered on time and under budget.

“Telerik solutions go well beyond UI components,” said Todd Anglin, chief evangelist at Telerik. “We’re a complete end-to-end provider of software development, testing and delivery tools.”

Tens of thousands of organizations in more than 90 countries use Telerik products, including Fortune 2000 companies, academic institutions, governments and non-profits.

Telerik Delivers Unique Value
As the number of .NET platforms expands, Telerik continues to work closely with Microsoft to ensure that customers have access to powerful tools that support the latest technologies. Toward that end, the company now offers UI controls for Windows Phone, ASP.NET AJAX, ASP.NET MVC, Silverlight, Windows Forms and Windows Presentation Foundation. Telerik also offers Visual Studio productivity plugins as well as powerful automated testing, content management, data access, reporting and SharePoint tools.

“Mobile, clouds, tablets and PCs are all mainstream now,” said Anglin. “If you want to improve software productivity you need to think about the big picture.”

Telerik’s broad .NET platform support and application life-cycle focus enable it to deliver unique efficiencies that save time and resources that cannot be achieved by purchasing point solutions. Its automated UI testing tool is automatically aware that it is testing a UI component and that the component is a grid, for example. The experience is more intuitive and the results are more stable than using standard UI components, which require developers to determine whether an element has rendered correctly in the right place.

Build Great Windows Phone Experiences
Telerik builds RadControls for Windows Phone from the ground up for the Windows Phone 7 operating system while simultaneously leveraging more than four years of Silverlight and WPF development. The result is a rich collection of high-performance controls that reflect the same high quality and responsive support developers expect from Telerik. The controls complete the UI Toolset for Windows Phone 7 by providing components and capabilities that are not included natively such as the RadAnimation Framework, Linear and Radial Gauges, RadWindow, and RadDataEngine.

“We’re one of the first to develop a set of tools for Windows Phone 7,” said Anglin. “These are not just Silverlight controls that have been ported. We built them specifically for Windows Phone 7 because if you’re building mobile apps, you need to consider things like limited battery life and smaller processors.”

Animation is a good example of a UI feature that can make or break user experience depending on how it is executed. The Telerik RadAnimation Framework control, which is not available in the UI Toolset for Windows Phone 7, provides predefined animations that combine high performance and low power consumption. The predefined animations match the animations found in Windows Phone 7 OS, which reduces the efforts needed to create animations in code or through XAML.

There is also a RadTransitionControl that allows smooth, animated transitions upon page load and unload. Using a single line of code, developers can set default transition animations without modifying the pages themselves. It includes a default transition that mimics the behavior of Windows Phone OS transitions.

“You can use Page Forward and deploy pages, but if you want to achieve the animations users expect, you need the tools to do it,” said Anglin. “Our tools take snapshots and animate them so you can maximize battery life.”

Like RadControls for Silverlight and WPF, RadControls for Windows Phone includes high-performance UI controls that speed up and simplify development. For example, the RadDataBoundListBox is the fastest version of the standard ListBox component on the market, while the new DataLayer builds upon Microsoft’s Language Integrated Query (LINQ) to make operations such as sorting and filtering possible without setting a single property.

RadControls for Windows Phone also provides Linear and Radial Gauges, which are ideal for building mobile business dashboards. Because RadGauge is specifically optimized for Windows Phone 7, it achieves smooth frame rates even when multiple indicators are updated many times per second.

What to Expect in 2011
Telerik plans to expand its testing capabilities to include load testing and automated testing support for WPF. It is also adding HTML 5 capabilities to its ASP.NET AJAX and ASP.NET MVC controls.

“Developers are wise to choose a single vendor that can deliver a common set of formats if they want to accelerate development,” said Anglin. “The tools are affordable, but if you’re using a single source that provides consistent support and documentation, you can save even more time and money. We help developers get up and running fast.”
