BrandIt and RouteIt, two new tools from consulting firm and Microsoft Gold Partner IncWorx, were announced yesterday to help organizations deal with branding their intranet sites as well as to manage document routing within SharePoint 2010.
BrandIt can be thought of as “an iPhone experience for your intranet,” according to the company, and it provides an alternative to the standard SharePoint look and feel that the company said “most users dislike.” BrandIt is a customized intranet site based on commonly required custom features that would normally take more than 200 hours of custom development and design to create, the company said. Further, it said the site can be implemented in minutes at 20% of the cost of a custom branded intranet project.
RouteIt, the document routing management tool, uses the drop-box paradigm to distribute items to the appropriate document library. Users can scan, fax, e-mail or otherwise upload documents into a drop box in SharePoint, where custom rules tell RouteIt where to send the items. RouteIt, according to IncWorx, leverages all the power of SharePoint 2010: tags, indexing, searching and organization, and performs better than Content Organizer, SharePoint’s out-of-the-box tool.
