Component maker Syncfusion has today announced Syncfusion Essential Studio 2010 Volume 1, a suite of business intelligence, reporting and UI controls built for the April arrival of .NET 4.
The business intelligence package features back-end improvements, such as allowing developers to connect to Oracle’s database, and includes filtering options for delivering grouped data to end users. End users may now drill down into data within grids.
New export options have been added for reports. Reports can now be produced as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or PDF files from Silverlight 3 and 4 applications (on the desktop or offline).
“The application no longer needs to go back and forth to the server,” said Syncfusion vice president Daniel Jebaraj. Further, end users now have options to make custom changes to reports without developer input.
For data visualization, Syncfusion has updated its Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) grid control for performance with large data sets, broadened support for formulas, and introduced a new tile view control for Silverlight and WPF.
“We are concerned about performance on middle-of-the-road hardware,” Jebaraj said. “We optimize for the platforms so that people who move from Windows Forms don’t give up performance.”
Pricing for each individual package is US$995 per developer. The Syncfusion Essential Studio 2010 Volume 1 suite starts at $1,295.
Lastly, ASP.NET Model-View-Controller (MVC) chart/grid controls and tools have been updated to support the upcoming release of ASP.NET MVC 2.0.
Syncfusion uses a jQuery wrapper for MVC controls to make them easier to deploy to the server, Jebaraj added.
