The Linker’s about a year behind the latest movies, but in the middle of yet another sleepless night, he did catch “The Blind Side.” Yeah, he gets that Sandra Bullock gave a star turn and that it’s based on real life. But what The Linker liked most were the cameos by at least a half-dozen major-college football coaches—and the fact that so few are still coaching at the school they represented in the movie, set around 2004. Lou Holtz, South Carolina (Steve Spurrier). Nick Saban, LSU (Les Miles). Phil Fulmer, Tennessee (Derek Dooley). Tommy Tuberville, Auburn (Gene Chizik). Come to think of it, Sandra’s not with ex-husband Jesse James anymore, either! The fates sure are fickle!
