To enable users to tag and classify multiple items directly from the SharePoint user interface, MetaVis will introduce tomorrow MetaVis Cloud Classifier for SharePoint 2010.

Directly integrating into the SharePoint Web interface, Cloud Classifier appears seamlessly in the SharePoint Ribbon, giving users more control over adding appropriate metadata to documents, according to the company.

Since SharePoint 2010’s tagging and classification technology is limited to individual items, Cloud Classifier allows users to select multiple documents from SharePoint sites, libraries, lists or search results, and to classify in bulk, reducing time spent classifying multiple documents, the company said.

In addition to its tagging capabilities, Cloud Classifier allows users to change content types for multiple selected documents and to specify field values, as well as to re-map fields to copy metadata values from one field to another. Users can also directly enter values or select them from standard SharePoint columns, as well as perform metadata enhancement and data classification in SharePoint sites.

MetaVis Cloud Classifier can be directly accessed from the toolbar once it is activated.
