.NET control and productivity tool maker ComponentOne demonstrated a new data grid capability in its SharePoint Web parts. Data handling such as filtering, paging and sorting can trickle down into another Web part such as a chart, said product manager Chris Bannon. It also demoed a SharePoint OLAP site.

Idera announced SharePoint security manager 3.5. The solution analyzes SharePoint security and suggests fixes if need be, said sales engineer Jeremy Gaige. Developers can see who has permissions and who can copy permissions, he said.

Nintex let attendees know that Workflow 2010 would become available on July 12. Workflow 2010 augments Microsoft’s SharePoint infrastructure with Web-based designers and tools for securing workflow activity through the enterprise, said vice president of product technology Mike Fitzmaurice. Workflows are not redirected outside of SharePoint to a proprietary engine, he said. “We made a fantastic product by standing on the shoulders of giants.”

Quest Software launched a new edition of its Microsoft SharePoint administration and auditing tools, which supports SharePoint 2010. The server interrogates the server environment, returning an assessment about performance and security risks with click-through resolutions and rule packs. There is no holistic view for change and configuration management in the Microsoft stack, said senior product manager and evangelist Joel Oleson. “This brings it all together.”
