IBM announces advances in building quantum computers
Scientists have unveiled two critical milestones toward building the first practical quantum computer, according to IBM. The milestones include the ability to detect and measure quantum errors, and a new quantum bit circuit design that could scale to larger dimensions.
According to IBM, Moore’s Law is expected to hit a wall, but quantum computing will take over. Quantum computers are expected to exceed today’s computers with new optimization and simulation capabilities.
“Quantum computing could be potentially transformative, enabling us to solve problems that are impossible or impractical to solve today,” said Arvind Krishna, senior vice president and director of IBM Research.
