/n software Leads Communications Component Innovation

For more than two decades, /n software products have been powering applications running in nearly every Fortune 500 and Global 2000 company. Tens of thousands of developers rely on /n software to keep pace with the latest communications technologies.
“/n software is the most widely used, widely trusted vendor of communication components for any business,” said Eric Madariaga, VP of marketing and business development at /n software. “Wherever development takes you, we’re there to support any protocol, any platform, anywhere.”

A Single Solution for a Complex World
Development technologies have expanded tremendously over the last few years. It is no longer possible for a developer or system integrator to focus on a single technology or platform to meet all of their software requirements.
“Today’s developers are expected to be agile, and the requirements are often shifting from building large, back-end enterprise applications to implementing Web APIs and delivering mobile applications, all within a few short months,” Madariaga said. “With each new technology there are often unanticipated costs involved when learning new language features, new platforms, and new tooling. Developers and development managers can reduce these costs and achieve significant time and productivity gains by having familiar tools available across technologies.”
The growth of /n software’s Red Carpet subscriptions reflects this trend. Red Carpet subscriptions give developers access to a consolidated connectivity solution that provides comprehensive access to every tool and technology /n software supports.
“Our suite of native Internet communications, security, and e-business integration components supports every major platform and developer technology,” said Madariaga. “The consistent developer interfaces allow developers to be more productive, faster.”
/n software’s Red Carpet subscription includes all IP*Works!, Integrator, Enterprise Adapter and other products. IP*Works! Internet Communication products include the IP*Works! Core Framework, SSL, SSH, S/MIME, OpenPGP, SNMP, Encrypt, Zip and WebSockets. Integrator Business Connectivity products span E-Commerce, Direct Payment Processing, Shipping, E-Banking, ERP (SAP), EDI, X12, QuickBooks, Amazon, Google, SharePoint Azure, and more. Enterprise Adapters include BizTalk, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), SQL Server SSIS, and Windows Workflows. NetCmdlets and PowerShell tools are also included in Red Carpet subscriptions. Supported platforms include .NET, ActiveX/Visual Basic, ASP, Delphi, C++ Builder, C++, Java/J2EE, Linux, Mac, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, WinRT, and PHP.
/n software products are fully integrated into all major IDEs, and include context-sensitive help, IntelliSense, and visual designer support, enabling developers to work within the paradigms of their preferred development environment.
To help developers get up to speed fast, /n software provides detailed reference documentation, hundreds of sample applications, fully indexed help files, and an extensive online knowledge base.
“Our goal is to make developing connected applications a relatively easy task, even if you have no experience with Internet protocols,” Madariaga said.

Mobile Integration: WebSockets, Bluetooth LE & Xamarin
Furthering their position as a leading-edge technology provider, /n software continues to expand support for mobile technologies and mobile development. “Mobile continues to be an area with a lot of exciting innovation,” said Madariaga. “In addition to providing native connectivity components for Windows Phone, WinRT, iOS and Android, we are releasing new components for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and WebSockets, as well as adding support for building applications with Xamarin across products.”
Earlier this year, /n software released a beta of IP*Works! Bluetooth that will be generally available later this year. It allows developers to build applications that connect to the “Internet of Things” devices such as home automation systems and personal devices.
“Our Bluetooth client and server components give you a straightforward way of integrating live, bidirectional client-server Bluetooth communications,” said Madariaga. “These fully integrated components are based on a high-performance asynchronous architecture, and they include native software components for any supported development technology.”
The components provide easy-to-use device and service discovery for Bluetooth-enabled devices. And their uniform, intuitive, extensible design eases the development process, especially for developers seeking to deploy applications on several platforms.
At TechEd, /n software will announce support for Xamarin across its entire component line. Xamarin allows developers to write mobile applications in C#, and to create applications that can simultaneously target iOS, Android, Windows and Mac OS from a common codebase. “If you’re building apps with Xamarin, our easy-to-use components for Internet communications, security and e-business messaging will give you the comprehensive connectivity support you need,” said Madariaga.
Supported protocols include FTP, IMAP, SNMP, enterprise-class security with SSL and SSH, S/MIME and OpenPGP encryption. Digital certificates, credit-card processing, compression, instant messaging, shipping and tracking, and e-business protocols will also be supported. Supported protocols include foundational and vanguard protocols for secure Internet communication: from FTP, IMAP, SNMP, compression, instant messaging, and WebSockets, to the standards for secure e-business, credit card processing, shipping and tracking, and EDI, building on enterprise-class security with SSL, SSH, digital certificates, S/MIME and OpenPGP.
