The need for security software on mobile operating devices has long been debated. On one side, companies like Google argue against their importance, while security vendors stress the significance of protection. Nonetheless, if you are using a security application to secure your device, you should be aware of which ones get the best results.

Independent test lab AV-TEST recently revealed its latest comparison of 30 Android 4.3 security apps. Of the apps, AV-TEST found 16 detected all the malware on a device, while many others were nearly perfect.

Apps were graded on a scale from 1 to 6 based on their ability to protect and on their impact on the usability of a device.

Android security applications that received a perfect score included Avira Free Android Security 3.0, Bitdefender Mobile Security 2.6, G Data Internet Security 25.0, Kingsoft Mobile Security 3.3, KS Mobile’s Clean Master 4.0, KS Mobile’s CM Security 1.0, McAfee Mobile Security 3.1, Qihoo’s 360 Mobile Security 1.5, Trend Micro Mobile Security 3.5, and TrustGo’s Mobile Security 1.3.

Two apps failed to meet AV-TEST’s standards for certification: SPAMFighter’s VIRUSfighter Android 2.1, and Zoner Mobile Security 1.1.

The report also showed what security features are included in each application.
