If you’re ready for a great burger, you have to try this recipe! Jim Duffy, Microsoft Regional Director and MVP, provides us with his unique rendition and his secret ingredient, all in the name of making a really good burger.
He takes the goodness of the beef, mixes it with the mouth-watering spices in the sausage, and tops it with cheese to produce a magical combination of savory flavor. The trick is assembling the toppings underneath the melted cheese to help to hold all your toppings in place for every tasty bite. Absolutely delicious!
Cooking tip: with the added sausage, cook until it’s at least medium to medium-well (no pink in the middle). And don’t forget to add Jim’s secret ingredient: LOVE!
Duffy’s Paradise Cheeseburger
1 lb ground beef
1 lb sausage (Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Mild Country Sausage)
1–1 ½ cups of Kraft Mexican-style Four Cheese shredded cheese (depends on how much you like cheese!)
1 pack of Sargento Colby-Pepper Jack sliced cheese
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
Cooked bacon strips (2 per burger)
Sautéed diced onions
Thoroughly mix the ground beef, sausage, shredded cheese and onion soup in a bowl. Make patties and slap them on the grill!
While they’re still on the grill, place the bacon strips and sautéed onions on top and cover with a cheese slice or two to keep the bacon and onions in place. Give the cheese a moment or two to melt and then remove the burgers from the grill.
Optionally, you could add sautéed mushrooms in place of or in combination with the bacon and onions.
