ActiveState today announced a new partnership and technology integration with Mirantis, enabling developers to deploy applications to the cloud in minutes. With the arrival of this joint solution from Mirantis and ActiveState, enterprises now have easier access to the best-in-cloud technologies of Cloud Foundry and OpenStack, delivered in a robust, feature-packed turnkey hybrid cloud solution.
The joint solution gives enterprises the ability to deploy an out-of-the-box solution, eliminating the headaches and complexity traditionally associated with developing and managing an on-premise environment. Stackato, built on various open source components such as Cloud Foundry and Docker, allows agile enterprises to develop and deploy software solutions faster than ever before and manage them more effectively. It provides development teams with built-in languages, frameworks and services on one single cloud application platform. Mirantis OpenStack is an OpenStack distribution that is easy to install and operate at scale. With Mirantis OpenStack, enterprises can leverage Murano, an OpenStack application catalog project, to provide the user interface and API to configure the compute, storage and networking resources for the Stackato clusters. Enterprises can also use Murano to enable integration for OpenStack infrastructure components such as load balancers and firewalls.
“ActiveState is thrilled to partner with Mirantis and give enterprises the turnkey hybrid cloud solution they need to continue to innovate and propel their businesses forward,” said ActiveState CEO Bart Copeland. “We aim to make it easier for enterprises to create business value and gain a competitive advantage. Stackato and Mirantis’ seamlessly integrated solution provides an adaptable and extensible environment that provides a complete and robust cloud environment that enables enterprises to deliver efficiently high quality software projects faster than ever before.”
With this partnership, ActiveState and Mirantis have packaged up the sequence of operations required to provision multi-node Stackato clusters consisting of data-services, core, and application container nodes. Using the flexible and extensible user interface, users drag and drop icons representing Stackato configurations into their environment. The required virtual machines are then allocated and deployed. Within minutes, a fully functioning and production-ready Stackato cluster is available for general use. Combining the stability and power of Murano with the flexibility and scalability of ActiveState’s Stackato in a tightly integrated solution, agile development teams will be able to innovate and develop faster than ever before.
“Enterprises want robust cloud solutions providing flexibility and scalability, which are not burdensome to deploy or maintain. The environment needs to support their work, not become their work,” said Boris Renski, co-founder and CMO of Mirantis. “Murano provides easy integration for OpenStack infrastructure components such as load balancers and firewalls. This, combined with Stackato’s multi-node capabilities, delivers a flexible and scalable instant cloud environment that is both easy to deliver and manage.”
