AppScale Systems, Inc., makers of AppScale, the popular open source implementation of Google App Engine, today introduced FastStart, another in a series of innovative products that leverage AppScale’s ease of use and deployment. In less than 10 minutes, FastStart users can deploy and start their App Engine applications on top of AppScale using Google Compute Engine or Amazon Web Services. FastStart for GCE and AWS are the latest easy deployment options for App Engine applications on AppScale.
Today’s news follows Canonical’s recent announcement that AppScale can now be deployed via JuJu, Canonical’s open source orchestration management tool. These introductions illustrate AppScale’s brilliant simplicity and scalability for creating web and mobile applications and highlight the portability and flexibility of the platform.
With over six million active apps running globally, Google App Engine is the most popular PaaS on the market for creating web and mobile applications. Open source AppScale brings additional deployment flexibility to App Engine and provides fine-grained control over Ops, which is a requirement of the enterprise.
“Our customers love that they can use AppScale to standardize application development — taking advantage of the rapid development, scalability and efficiency of the AppScale development model while gaining the confidence that their apps are portable across all infrastructures,” said Woody Rollins, CEO of AppScale. “There is a reason why the most innovative companies are leveraging the App Engine model. It is all about speed to market and using technology as a competitive advantage. Period.”
“After substantial testing and research, we are focused on Google Cloud Platform together with AppScale to standardize our application development and deployment at Natixis,” said George Marootian, EVP and Head of Technology for Natixis Global Asset Management. “App Engine has all the right components; rapid development, ease of use and planetary scale. However, as an international global asset management company, we require more control over our applications. A hybrid deployment using App Engine and AppScale solves this problem today and provides the flexibility required for tomorrow. I congratulate Google and AppScale for delivering hybrid solutions that really work.”
