MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.–Couchbase, Inc., provider of the most complete NoSQL database, today announced general availability of the Couchbase Hadoop Connector for Cloudera Enterprise 5. This new integration simplifies the development and management of big data infrastructure in the enterprise.
“Our partnership with Cloudera brings the best enterprise class big data management technologies – NoSQL and Hadoop – together to make it easier and faster for businesses to power mission critical applications and leverage the data from those applications for greater business intelligence.”
“Big data’s impact on mission critical applications is accelerating and driving enterprises’ need for solutions that are capable of scaling to massive workloads,” said Rod Hamlin, Vice President of Business Development, Couchbase. “Our partnership with Cloudera brings the best enterprise class big data management technologies – NoSQL and Hadoop – together to make it easier and faster for businesses to power mission critical applications and leverage the data from those applications for greater business intelligence.”
The Couchbase Hadoop Connector, which leverages Sqoop, makes it easier for organizations to have interoperability between Couchbase Server and Cloudera. The integration leverages Couchbase Server’s data streaming facilities to be able to quickly import or export data to Cloudera’s Distribution including Apache Hadoop (CDH) from Couchbase with regular updates, or scheduled updates, through Apache Oozie managed jobs.
Couchbase Server’s proven high performance and the design of the connector ensure high throughput, which in turn allows real-time answers on the bigger questions businesses are asking of their data. With the integration, data is streamed in either direction between Couchbase Server and Hadoop. The product integration enables enterprises to use any of the engines – Impala, Spark, Cloudera Search, Hive or others that are part of an enterprise data hub to analyze data. The connector is certified on Cloudera 5 and Couchbase Server 2.5 and 3.0.
“The certification of Couchbase on Cloudera Enterprise 5 enables Couchbase customers to leverage the benefits of an integrated Cloudera and Couchbase solution,” said Tim Stevens, Vice President, Corporate and Business Development, Cloudera. “By partnering with Couchbase, we can offer companies the flexibility of building an enterprise data hub using Cloudera as the Hadoop distribution of choice to merge real-time, transactional data with large-scale analytics.”
