GrapeCity has announced the 2015 v2 release of its ComponentOne Studio product, a world-renowned suite of data and UI controls for professional .NET developers building Windows, web and mobile applications. The v2 ComponentOne Studio release offers software developers innovative productivity tools for building sleek, high-performing, feature complete applications. With new features, new controls, and several enhancements, ComponentOne Studio provides developers the richest multi-platform toolset for building modern applications as well as for maintaining and updating legacy applications.
One of the biggest debuts in the v2 release is ComponentOne Studio’s new Web API. Available for access by web browsers or mobile tools, the Web API provides users the ability to import spreadsheets and export any data management or visualization control to the format of their choice. “With our Web API you can create a pie chart and export it to an image, export your grid to Excel, or import a full Excel file into a FlexGrid, and an endless amount of other possibilities,” said Jody Handley, product marketing manager at GrapeCity. “Being able to complete this as a function within the application itself and eliminating the need of building-in the ability to export data, offers significant return on investment.”
Further enhancing the value of the ComponentOne Studio product is the addition of the new FlexSheet for WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) control. By extending the company’s popular FlexGrid control, GrapeCity has created C1FlexSheet for WPF, which provides more out-of-the-box Microsoft Excel-like functionality. “With this official release of C1FlexSheet for WPF, a user can import and export Excel spreadsheets, manipulate rows, apply pre-coded formulas and create their own,” said Handley.
GrapeCity also extended some of their most popular WPF themes to support the Microsoft Ribbon control. For users with Ribbons in their WPF apps, they can now style their Ribbons to look like Office 2013 or make them completely flat and modern-looking with ComponentOne Studio’s Cosmopolitan themes.
Driving forward with better migration and full reporting integration, GrapeCity has added a new ReportPreview control for WinForms (Beta), four new chart types, script editors, and new features for report customization. “Our VBScript Editor now supports Intellisense and, with the Split View users, can compare multiple scripts at one time, making easier than ever to write scripts,” said Handley.
When building modern, touch first solutions, the MVC controls inside ComponentOne Studio are not only designed to be fast and lightweight, they are also engineered to support any requirement. Handley shared that if the requirement is full compatibility with MVC6 and ASP.NET 5.0, ComponentOne Studio MVC controls will be fully compatible once Microsoft announces the framework has been released to manufacturing (RTM).
With the Microsoft announcement that the final releases of Visual Studio 2015, Team Foundation Server 2015 and .NET Framework 4.6 will be available for download on July 20th, Handley confirmed that GrapeCity will be a sim-ship vendor. In Handley’s June 30, 2015, blog post, “Windows 10 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2015” We’re There!” Handley wrote, “Yes, ComponentOne Studio and all its editions will sim-ship with Visual Studio 2015.”
