Kony, Inc., a leading enterprise mobility company, today released new versions of Kony MobileFabric listed in AWS Marketplace, including a free Developer Edition (AWS usage fees apply). The new versions, now generally available, are part of a comprehensive lineup of Kony MobileFabric offerings powered by AWS, giving developers the freedom to use open mobile developer frameworks and tools of choice, as well as take advantage of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to rapidly provision and scale their backend mobile infrastructure. By making these new offerings available in AWS Marketplace, the cost and complexity of mobile app development is significantly reduced.

“Mobile apps are one of the fastest growing areas driving cloud usage and adoption,” said Burley Kawasaki, senior vice president, Products and Strategy, Kony, Inc. “As more developers are targeting to build mobile and IoT apps on AWS, they can benefit from using Kony MobileFabric to address their entire backend infrastructure needs, while also giving them the freedom to develop their mobile front-end with support for iOS, Android, Windows, HTML5/JavaScript and PhoneGap development styles. With support for the new API management capabilities of AWS, Kony MobileFabric now enables any mobile app to take advantage of and reuse web services reliably, securely and at scale.”

“The availability of Kony MobileFabric in AWS Marketplace also offers developers access to our free software and rapidly deployable mobile backend infrastructure,” continued Kawasaki. “The unique value of Kony MobileFabric is that it gives IT the control they need to manage and maintain security and minimize risk to the business, while also giving developers and businesses the power and flexibility to innovate.”

“Making Kony MobileFabric available in AWS Marketplace enables developers to rapidly find and provision the backend infrastructure they need for their most demanding mobile applications,” said Dave McCann, Vice President, AWS Marketplace, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “By removing the friction normally associated with acquiring enterprise mobile infrastructure, the broader developer community now has access to innovate rapidly on backend services for their mission critical enterprise mobile apps.”

According to Gartner analysts Richard Marshall, Van Baker and Jason Wong, “Mobile backend as a service has become a critical component of enterprise mobility. Mobile strategists and architects can choose from products that offer a variety of required mobile app services, including data hosting, integration and orchestration, location, and identity and access management. By 2020, lightweight Web- and mobile-style app integration will have completely displaced traditional approaches.” (Gartner Market Guide for Cloud Mobile Back-end Service, March 2015).

Kony also announced the global expansion of its Kony managed cloud service built on AWS, which enables customers around the globe to have more options for locally or regionally hosting their mobile apps. Kony MobileFabric is offered as a managed service in multiple regions across the North America, South America, Europe, Japan, Singapore, and Australia. This gives customers more choice in their cloud deployments, and addresses the needs of many enterprises to specify the physical location of their cloud applications to ensure highest levels of performance and security, and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
