CollabNet, the leader in Agile development in the Cloud and the founder of open source Subversion, today announced the introduction of CollabNet Subversion Edge 2.1, the latest version of the premier distribution of the world’s most popular SCM software.  CollabNet Subversion Edge 2.1 incorporates the soon-to-be-released Apache Subversion 1.7 code.  Its browser-based console for Subversion management now adds functionality for scheduled backups and for simplified (dump / load) repository upgrades and migrations.  CollabNet Subversion Edge is expected to be available in late September, at the same time that Subversion 1.7 becomes available.  More information and free downloads of CollabNet Subversion Edge are available at www.collab.net/getSVN.

CollabNet will present a free webinar covering the new features and functionality in Subversion 1.7, “Subversion 1.7 – Why You Should Care”, on September 20, 2011 at 9a.m. PDT.  Free registration is available at http://www.collab.net/webinar/110/.

CollabNet founded the Subversion open source project in 2000 and remains a principal corporate sponsor of the project.  With a portfolio that includes more than 10,000 Subversion customers, CollabNet is also the world’s leading provider of Subversion-related software and services.

New in Apache Subversion 1.7
The defining feature of Subversion 1.7 is a major infrastructure upgrade, including a completely redesigned working copy library that delivers enhanced performance, with some users reporting that their most common operations are faster by an order of magnitude.  In addition, more than 150 other significant improvements were made to the previous version.

“CollabNet is continuing its leadership and support of the Subversion community with the release of CollabNet Subversion Edge 2.1,” said Chris Clarke, vice president, product management, CollabNet.  “This new version also complements TeamForge 6.1’s abilities to centrally manage and govern multiple Subversion repositories and to enable LAN-like performance over WAN networks via Subversion replication.”
