WatchDox, a 3-year-old document security and tracking company, has announced an integration with SharePoint that enables secure exchange of documents outside the firewall as well as onto mobile devices.

The WatchDox SharePoint Connector enables SharePoint administrators to share libraries through the WatchDox virtual data room service, an online repository that provides secure viewing, tracking and control, according to the company’s announcement of the integration.

Further, the connector provides persistent protection to documents; can restrict downloading, copying, printing or forwarding; and can track all audit all such moves, the company said.

“The WatchDox document-centric security approach enables organizations to leverage their significant SharePoint investment by allowing them to control, track and revoke documents wherever they are and on any device—including iPhones, iPads, BlackBerrys, laptops and desktop computers,” said Moti Rafalin, CEO of WatchDox.

“With the WatchDox technology, these devices are not required to be managed by the enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution. The organization is able to control the documents on those devices, whether they are the customers’ or employees’ personal devices.”

WatchDox will demonstrate its SharePoint integration at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference in Anaheim next month.
