SOASTA, the leader in cloud and mobile testing, today announced that is has further expanded the reach of its Global Test Cloud to feature the cloud resources of Google Compute Engine, more international locations and access to remotely hosted mobile test devices. Google’s vast cloud resources, new sources of globally distributed user traffic, and remotely hosted test devices provide ever-expanding options for SOASTA customers to optimize every possible user scenario.

“Appurify is excited to be part of the SOASTA Global Test Cloud for mobile automation byproviding SOASTA customers full access to the Appurify Managed Cloud of real devices”

SOASTA adds Google Compute Engine
Built on the same global infrastructure that runs Google’s search engine and other services, Google Compute Engine is the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) component of the Google Cloud Platform that enables users to launch virtual machines on demand. With the option of Google cloud resources, SOASTA users are now provided additional load generation locations and the ability to ramp up their tests with Google cloud’s highly scalable, reliable infrastructure. Integrated with SOASTA’s patented cross-cloud grid provisioning, Google’s cloud load generators can be dynamically provisioned and managed on the SOASTA platform. As the pioneer in Cloud Testing, SOASTA’s patented technology for simulating distributed global users with load testing grids across every major cloud provider, and now including mobile devices, eliminates time, cost, and complexity faced by teams trying to do this on their own.

“Our Global Test Cloud has transformed how our customers ensure the quality of user experiences on the web and mobile systems that their businesses depend on,” said Tom Lounibos, SOASTA CEO. “Google’s cloud, plus the additional international locations and real mobile devices that we have added, will supply every customer we support with endless scale, devices and locations to testevery imaginable user scenario.”

Mobile Devices in the Global Test Cloud
To support utilization of TouchTest mobile automation using the Global Test Cloud, SOASTA customers now also have access to up to hundreds of popular dedicated mobile devices in a secure offsite environment for mobile test automation anywhere in the world, anytime. Customers can run SOASTA automation on real, current, unmodified devices that are fresh, available and fully managed. The most critical iOS and Android mobile profiles are covered using actual devices with thousands of environmental combinations covering device connection, networkcarrier and signal strength, memory, orientation, location and more. Directfeedback and test results are delivered instantly from test runs of any size, directly to the user.

Location, Location, Location
New worldwide locations have been added to SOASTA’s Global Test Cloud including new locations in Africa, Australia, China, Japan, South America, and Europe. SOASTA’s Global Test Cloud is now running in over 90 locations. As part of SOASTA’s expansion of the Global Test Cloud, the company has added two new mobile partners, Appurify and Mobile Labs. They join an extensive list of existing Global Test Cloud partners including Amazon AWS, Dimension Data, Microsoft Azure, Rackspace, HP, Go Grid and many others. This is coupled with SOASTA’s recently announced Private Device Cloud for local mobile testing.

“Appurify is excited to be part of the SOASTA Global Test Cloud for mobile automation by providing SOASTA customers full access to the Appurify Managed Cloud of real devices,” said Jay Srinivasan, Appurify’s CEO and co-founder. “SOASTA and Appurify enable quality throughout the development process with test automation and real device access that reduces test time while ensuring mobile app functionality and performance.”

As Gartner research states:

“Cloud-delivered testing tools are rapidly becoming commonplace in performance and load testing. This provides the full value of pay as you use and much greater scaling capacity than traditional tools. In addition, the use of device clouds for testing applications on devices has driven broader adoption of cloud testing tools and is helping drive greater adoption for functional testing via the cloud.”

“Assume that cloud IaaS offerings are not interchangeable, and that where you place a workload will be where it stays. Although there can be relatively little ‘lock-in’ for public cloud IaaS, moving between providers is similar to doing a data center move; it can be time-consuming, expensive and risky. Consider the strategic future of a provider before migrating a significant percentage ofyour applications into its cloud.”

Availability: The Global Test Cloud with ever-expanding locations is available for all SOASTA CloudTest customers running with external load generation capabilities.
