Accusoft announces the release of ScanFix Xpress v8, a new version of its software development kit (SDK) for enhancing applications with the power to automatically clean up and correct scanned image files.
With little or no operator intervention in the applications into which it is integrated, ScanFix Xpress cleans up scans to reduce file sizes and to boost the speed and accuracy of subsequent processes such as optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent character recognition (ICR), and forms processing. Applications built with ScanFix Xpress can rapidly and automatically perform a full range of cleanup operations, including deskew, binarize, brightness and contrast correction, hole punch removal, inverse text correction and much more.
ScanFix’s ability to automatically detect and correct image orientation also frees scanner operators from having to carefully sort and orient papers before scanning, to boost productivity and reduce errors in large-scale scanning jobs.
For version 8, Accusoft has enhanced ScanFix’s binarization function for conversion of grayscale and color images to bitonal images, for better accuracy of subsequent processing. A new application program interface (API) has been added for line detection and removal, enabling developers to selectively control which lines to remove from scanned images to facilitate processing, and which to leave in place for content organization and readability.
ScanFix Xpress can also now automatically correct warped images captured by digital cameras and smartphones held at an imperfect angle, to improve the accuracy and reliability of such application functions as mobile check deposits and photo forms submissions.
