The Linker will now speculate on the Facebook IPO faceplant: First and foremost, people just don’t like Mark Zuckerberg. He came off as aloof and manipulative in “The Social Network,” which has been playing repeatedly on cable television, and he’s just not likeable (though CEO non-likeability hasn’t hurt Oracle’s valuation). Second, people who use Facebook don’t use it to shop, so the ads go un-clicked. The business model needs to adapt, and who knows how that will happen. Third, people are starting to see their privacy invaded even more than it already is by the apps that use Facebook, and all the modifications to the site are turning users off. (Full disclosure: The Linker is watching the value of his 40 shares slowly descend into the nether-regions of Wall Street.) But, smiling, he offers some links that have retained their full value!
