Attunity is offering PowerPivot Connector for Oracle, a dedicated link for making Oracle data available in Microsoft’s PowerPivot, a self-service business-intelligence system introduced with SQL Server 2008 R2. In addition, Attunity has said that its existing OLEDB-based connectors will let PowerPivot users access data from other data sources, including relational databases and non-relational systems.
Objectivity has released a beta of its distributed graph database utility and API. InfiniteGraph, which works with both relational and NoSQL data sources, helps developers and users navigate through large quantities of data. According to the company, developers can download and try InfiniteGraph free for two months, while startups and new businesses with a GoGrid Cloud Hosting account will be able to use InfiniteGraph for free. Paid licenses start at US$999 per year.

DevExpress has updated its Data Grid and Data Editing Control Library for Windows Presentation Foundation to include a data filter editor, a data-grid expression editor, and Visual Studio and Blend design-time support.
Radical Breeze has updated Illumination Software Creator to allow creation of Adobe Flex and AIR applications, and to run natively on Mac OS X. Version 2 is a cross-platform visual development tool, and the first version was used to build Python desktop and mobile applications for Linux and Windows. The software costs US$49.95.
Atego has added role-based capabilities to its Artisan Studio modeler. Version 7.2 now comes in role-based editions for enterprise architects, systems engineers and software engineers. It also adds DoDAF capabilities for the Object Management Group’s UPDM 1.0 modeling standard for defense architectural frameworks. The modeler adds metric reporting, a simplified user interface and a new tool for comparing models.
MKS Toolkit 9.4, which brings Linux/Unix command-line tools to Windows, has added compatibility with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, along with Visual Studio 2010. It also supports Kerberos authentication for secure shells, bsdtelnet and telnetd, and can read the POSIX pax archive file format. It also has improved its SMTPmail e-mail client.
Devart has updated its data comparison and synchronization utility. The company says that dbForge Data Compare for SQL Server 2.0 offers 3x faster comparison and 2x faster synchronization than the previous version. It also lets users select native SQL Server backups as a metadata source, and it can compare any combination of live databases and database backups. The US$149.95 tool can be used Windows task scheduler to compare and synchronize data in automatic mode via a command line.
Indigo Rose Software has updated its development software for creating autorun applications for CDs, DVDs and USB storage devices. AutoPlay Media Studio 8 gives developers a visual drag-and-drop development environment that includes 21 built-in interface objects, including buttons, images, menu bars, browsers, QuickTime video, data grids, PDF viewers and checkboxes. The US$295 software also includes Blu-ray disc burning; a scripting engine; application styles/skins; integrated database access to MySQL, ODBC, Oracle and SQLite3; and rolling-code data security.
Accusoft Pegasus is offering a new version of its PDF Xpress SDK, which now works with 64-bit Windows environments and supports Adobe’s latest PDF specifications. Version 4 can be used to embed PDF capabilities into ActiveX and .NET applications, including PDF viewing, PDF-to-image conversion, PDF/A file creation and page operations, as well as document page merging, inserting and reordering.
An update of Hyper Text Structured Query Language (HTSQL) is mainly a refactoring of the software to enhance performance and provide a platform for expanding features in future releases. HTSQL, produced by Prometheus Research, lets browsers or applications use URLs to access databases directly.. The software already worked with PostgreSQL and Oracle; the update supports MySQL, SQLite and SQL Server. HTSQL is royalty-free for open-source database. Commercial databases are licensed for US$10,000 per processor per database, with an 18% annual maintenance fee.
Kentico has updated its content management system for ASP.NET to work with Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4. Kentico CMS 5.5 integrates with Facebook Connect, OpenID and SharePoint Server authentication systems, extending beyond the previous version’s integration with Active Directory and Windows Live ID. It also integrates with the MetaWeblog API used by many blog systems.
