Application life-cycle management vendor Rally announced last week the release of its new agile ALM platform, Rally Unlimited Edition. Building on its Enterprise Edition platform, the release has several new features, including an Idea Manager, Quality Manager and Integration Hub. Enhancements were also made to its administrative feature, Enterprise Administration.

Rally’s Idea Manager is a feedback website that enables companies and customers to collaborate on work. Customers can submit feature requests and comments, as well as vote existing ideas up or down. Fully integrated into the platform, the Idea Manager enables product managers to efficiently add ideas to their product backlog to get implementation of the features started. As development continues, customers are kept informed of work progress.

With the new Quality Manager feature, developers and testers can schedule and run tests throughout the application’s life cycle. Regression tests can run within iterations while users execute scheduled manual, system or functional tests. Users can also organize test cases by functional area for quick test-plan assembly, the company said.

The platform’s Integration Hub offers users a suite of connectors for data and workflows across an organization. The add-on supports HP Quality Center, Rational ClearQuest, Visual Studio Team Foundation Server and others. The feature also enables users to create mashups, as well as to test and deploy to destinations such as Web portals, wikis or IDEs.

Unlimited Edition also includes a new Product Manager and Time Tracker. For teams using Salesforce.com, Product Manager integrates with the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution to centralize customer feedback collected by sales and support teams. By using the CRM data, product managers can prioritize features most important to the customers. Time Tracker integrates time entry screens into the platform to reduce daily overhead of tracking time.

Additionally, the Enterprise Administration feature was enhanced to enable administration of larger teams. Upgrades include an expanded user search, edit and permission features, among others.

Unlimited Edition is available now for US$49 per user, per month in SaaS or on-premise offerings.
