SharePoint migration management software provider Metalogix has announced that it has acquired StoragePoint, makers of external data storage solutions for SharePoint. Terms of the deal between the privately held companies were not disclosed.

The deal gives Metalogix a broader set of products for migrating, managing and archiving SharePoint data and content, the company said.

StoragePoint brings to Metalogix the ability to store data and content remotely, freeing up SharePoint’s database and enabling storage on most any on-premise or cloud platform, the company said.

Chris Risley, CEO of Metalogix, said in a statement that remote content storage for an organization’s most valuable assets must be world-class, and StoragePoint meets reliability and security standards set by the United States government for its software suppliers.
