The ability to expose deeper SQL Server information is among the key new features in Monday’s release of Idera’s SharePoint diagnostic manager at TechEd in Atlanta.
The tool can give SharePoint administrators insight into configuration options, capacity planning and fragmentation, according to the company. It also helps users manage their automated alerts when capacities are about to be exceeded, for example, or when pages are not performing well. They can choose to have the alerts trigger immediately, or set them to wait until a particular threshold is exceeded for a predetermined amount of time.
The new release also provides automatic cluster support, so it can detect and monitor all the physical servers that make up the cluster upon which SharePoint is running to help discover and correct problems related to SharePoint performance.
